So the puppeteer of bear, noel McNeal intended to play bear as a Mr Rogers type character, very calming as opposed to the high energy extremely amped up children’s shows that were popular at the time. The calming effect of the show made it a hit among autistic children and parents and people began writing in to the shows producers and neal about how much it’s been good for autistic children. So after bear was done noel started trying to get a children’s show specifically for autistic children off the ground and that’s what he’s been doing ever since, he’s created a show called The Show Me Show and is still working on growing it and making it widely available. So if you loved bear in the big blue house as a kid and you want to support noel or programming for autistic children consider checking it out and supporting it!
